Barbara Kopple\u2019s new documentary masterpiece New Homeland screened at the 21st annual Sarasota Film Festival. I enjoyed the film. I got to understand the difficulty of assimilation of refugees.
Also it made me miss camping. Additionally I contrast Canada with Trump, regarding attitude towards refugees. Canada clearly welcomes people suffering abroad who have to start over. This film showcases three families from Syria. Kopple did a good thing. Timely probably more so than she thought it would be.
