"The Bucket"

by: Wes Robert Ward

I was completely mesmerized to say the least as I sat among some old dust covered things long past. Days gone by and somewhat long forgotten were these many wondrous items in this old room I had found.

It wasn't Ali Baba's treasure, but to me it was the greatest treasure known to man.

In search of the Canterville Ghost, I found something other than a haunted old man of a restless spirit. I found the most important thing that could be more treasured than the Holy Grail itself.

There were many things ancient as of possible medieval days many centuries ago, but what stole my eye, no hypnotized my eyes was the small metal Bucket near the door.

The Bucket.

Just an ordinary metal Bucket, nothing special. No, it wasn't used by King Arthur as a helmet with Excalibur. No, it wasn't used to carry John the Baptist's head. And no, it wasn't used as one of the drums for Ringo Starr of the Beatles.

It was just an ordinary metal Bucket without mop of course. And as I sat on an old stool, I couldn't help, but look at it for minutes to hours. To me it was the most fascinating thing I have ever seen.

Nothing could compare to the beauty of this Bucket. Not a flower. Not a newborn life. Not even seeing heaven open before my eyes. No, this Bucket was the most beautiful antique piece of art that God himself ever created. If there was an eighth wonder of the world it would be this Bucket.

I slowly stood and I slowly walked over. I slowly picked up that Bucket. I held it within my hands as if I had discovered Aladdin's lamp.

I slowly caressed that Bucket on the cold metal side like a woman's facial cheek, then I kissed that Bucket, got down on bended knee and proposed marriage. To my pure happiness, I think that Bucket said yes.

We're getting married on Saturday. 💍💍

I love my bucket. 😍

The End. 💕
