"The Moose"

by: Wes Robert Ward

There was a Moose, a big brown Moose in British Columbia, Canada. This Moose was no ordinary Moose, but bigger than the average Moose. Although this Moose as he stood in the deep woods or even out on the prairie gave many who witnessed discovering him by accident the alarming feeling that something wasn't right.

The fact of the matter was this and it must be recognized that this Moose was not any ordinary Moose… but a Moose from another world.

Yes, this Moose had come from another planet far from any we know or charted. This Moose had crashed landed in his Moose UFO far from civilization.

The Moose UFO had sunk beneath the waters of some big deep Canadian lake forever losing any evidence of it's existence.

The Moose himself swam away from the sinking wreckage and truddled out onto the shore during the late Fall season when Winter was near. Now is the winter of the Moose discontent.

The only witness to this unbelievable discovery of the century was a Grizzly Bear nearby on a boulder licking his crotch, but he was too involved in his personal hygiene to investigate and he pretty much couldn't care less… unless it was a salmon walking out of the water.

Another witness was a common Woodpecker who was too into conspiracy theories like who shot John F. Kangaroo as he crossed the road. How a Kangaroo came to Canada was another theory he was working on like the plutonium stolen by a Polar Bear, but the termites in the dying tree was more important to him at the moment than some Moose coming out of the water and a sinking whatever in the lake.

And lastly just an ordinary Turtle who was to slow to report this incident to the Seattle Times. By the time he got there 2000 years would pass.

Now before I, your Chipmunk Narrator, go on about the Moose it must be understood that Moose alien anatomy is stranger than the common Moose we all know. Their antlers for example are not only antlers but two things: a radar satellite to listen to any communications from any Moose Motherships in outer space and lastly a Moose weapon that can shoot a super sonic blast that can blow away a whole forest.

And as for the language of the alien Moose, it is rough and tough to understand. Like eight Reindeer drinking out of a water trough full of hard liquor.

A Moose is a Moose, of course, of course

And no one can talk to a Moose of course

That is, of course, unless the Moose had an interspecies galaxy translator collar around his neck.

The Moose had walked out of the waters and into the woods, disappearing for a time or two, never to be seen for days or weeks, even months at a time. Like the legend of Big Foot, but instead of the imprints the hairy Sasquatch would leave behind… the Moose left green droppings that glowed in the dark.

And when the Moon was high on a cold dark dank night, on top of a steep cropping or mountain top, if one was to see, the Moose would stand on top and look towards the stars feeling melancholy of the world he left behind.

And like an Elephant that never forgets, the Moose always remembers. For memories haunt us all and in the mind of a Moose from another world it can be just as hard on any of us.

Some day, some far away day, maybe one day, the Moose will see one of those stars wink at him and it will tell him that the Moose Alien Armada Fleet are out there searching for him and he will be reunited with his harem of Moose wives and his Moose concubines as well. Alas though until then misery acquaints a Moose with strange bedfellows.

‘A Moose! A Moose! My Kingdom for a Moose!!!’

And sometimes this is the very essence of midsummer Moose madness. Shall the Moose compare a common Deer to a summer’s day?

And with the Moon way up high shining for all the valley below, the Moose stands and waits. One day soon, he thought as he ripped a piece of bark from a tree and began to eat, time is all it takes. To be, or not to be, that is the Moose question.

Beware the Ides of Moose. Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor Moose, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot Moose, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

To thine own Moose be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any Moose. Yes, the Moose must keep believing because if one Moose loses hope then the kingdom of the Moose will never be.

Let every Moose be master of his time. All the world's a stage, and all the Moose and Meese merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one Moose in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.

And the age of the Moose will be among us soon. A new era will come where the Moose will walk among the humankind of Earth and in time the Moose will rule the world.

Some Moose are born great, some Moose achieve greatness, and some Moose have greatness thrust upon them.

And with that said the north star blinked.

The End. 🐂
