The Trouser Press Project is an ongoing playlist of the music that was written about in one of the most underrated and important music magazines to have ever existed.
Each playlist is broken down by the issue number, month and year.
I have started at the beginning with TP # 01 March of 1974. I pick the music by what is featured, referenced, reviewed, advertised ... etc.. It's a good look into the listening habits of the staff and of the times. If you want to read these issues the ENTIRE Trouser Press archive is available at www.trouserpress.com .
In some instances I will throw back to a series of songs by a band because they were mentioned in an article and will go a little off of format because the songs fit the playlist and times. I added a bunch of Soft Machine songs in the TP02 playlist because they had reviewed a record that I was not particularly fond of (and neither was the reviewer), however early Soft Machine is amazing and should be acknowledges and they have been referenced throughout the history of TP.
I hope you enjoy this experiment as much I am enjoying being stuck in a time warp and putting these together. This will take over most of the RECORD ROMP program for a while. I will be doing my regular show but maybe two a month instead of 4. - Slander
