This tribute to Lois
Curtis (died May 27, 1981) and Dwight Rude (died February 14, 1981) was written
by S. Robert Powell, and read by him at the Griswold Reunion at Ridge Farm,
Aldenville, Wayne County, PA, on August 19, 1981.

William C. Norton (b.
10-10-1852) is the third son of Edmund Kirby Norton (b. 06-03-1819), who
married Clarissa N. McMullen on 01-05-1843. Edmund Kirby Norton is the older
son of Sheldon Norton (11-26-1793--09-15-1838) and Harriet Spencer, who were
married on 09-14-1818. (After the death of Sheldon Norton in 1838, Harriet married Rufus Grinnell, and they were the parents of Francis Wayland Grinnell, who was born on 01-20-1840).


In 1812, Sheldon Norton
(age 19), together with the his siblings and parents (Levi and Olive Norton)
moved to Wayne County, PA from Goshen, CT. (Levi Norton was born on 05-13-1759
and died on 01-21-1823; on 01-21-1783, he married Olive Wheeler, who was born
09-19-1759 and died 05-25-1838).


Lois Curtis was also a descendant of Levi and Olive Norton. Lois Tryphenia Norton was born on August 8, 1894. She married Hobart H. Curtis (11-04-1896--04-17-1962). Her father was Myron Norton (m. Lydia Perham), who was the son of Sidney M. Norton. Sidney M. Norton (m. Harriet W. Gaylord) was the younger son of Warren Wheeler Norton (b. 11-12-1783; m. on 10-26-1800 to Polly North, who was the daughter of Martin and Mary North of Winchester, CT), who was the oldest son of Levi and Olive (Wheeler) Norton.
