DESCRIPTION
James, a classy scholar who lacks any street smarts finds himself in a cold listless night without any shelter.
It is a place unrecognizable to him, but he knows that he is certainly far from home.
Just when he thinks the night cannot get any worse, it does.
It starts with beauty: pit, pat, pit, pat, James listens and appreciates the sound of a soft drizzle lightly caressing the earth.
The sound, although a warning that more cold water will come, makes James smile, giving him comfort, "Even in an alien place like this the sound of rain is still the same.
Between any two worlds, no matter how different, there is always a bridge to be found.
" James becomes pleased with himself and his thoughts, for he believes he has just contrived something of deeper meaning.
He was always different, a Drifter, a Dreamer, a bohemian, so Avant-garde compared to his peers.
"You're a true poet James", he thinks.
The moment breaks.
Pit, pat, pit, pat.
James opens his umbrella, surprised and please with himself again, this time for how prepared for the situation he'd been.
But his mood quickly turns.
Amid the pit pat, pit pat of rain, another noise emerges after the first droplet hits his umbrella.
Fsssssssszzzzzzz.
A fizzing sizzle.
He looks up to see that one drop of rain has melted the entire umbrella.
A wave of fear lapses through James's body.
"If one drop of rain is corrosive enough to do that to the umbrella, then it must be deadly to even touch!" James thinks.
"I've read about this, it's Acid Rain!".
James springs into action, dodging left and right.
"Lucky I played varsity tennis in high school!" he thinks.
Does the rain ever end? Will he make it through the night? Will the rain fall even harder? These are questions James does not have time for as he struggles to survive each second, and avoid Acid Rain.
