Global Satellite Messenger in Chrome with OffiDocs

DESCRIPTION
Global Satellite Messenger is a powerful offline multithreaded messaging application for your satellite phone.
All that is needed is your satellite phone, such as an Iridium 9555, a USB cable, and your Chromebook or Chrome browser-enabled computer! Gone are the days typing on a cumbersome keypad and lost messages due to bad signal.
Quickly type messages on your keyboard and be instantly notified when the message is sent -- or not sent -- with the capability of resending it again.
Aggregate your twitter feed and Iridium gateway emails in other tabs, while having a conversation with another satellite phone or mobile device! When new messages appear from a new source, a new tab is opened.
It's that easy.
If you click the "Status" button, you will be given the current satellite signal as well as a very crude location that is accurate within about 10 kilometers, determined by the Iridium constellation itself.
(For rough location only, do not use for navigation and life safety).
Also, if you wish to enter AT commands directly to the Iridium device, you can do so in the console.
Compatibility: Iridium 9555 (tested) Other SMS-enabled Iridium handsets (untested, please let us know either way) Unknown Compatibility: Other non-iridium satellite phones might work Any other device that speaks GSM AT commands might work Coming soon: Transfer images and files over SMS! Unlike data calls, which typically require an unobstructed sky view for a long period of time, SMS packets can be sent over a period of time from just about anywhere.
In testing, we have sent files under moderate tree coverage, indoors with the handset next to windows, etc.
The software keeps trying until the sending is complete.
It may only take a minute or two.
This mode works great for sending small data files and 1-2kB webcam JPEG images to social media such as twitter.
The only downside is this data mode is typically more expensive than a data call.
(special account setup will be required) On Roadmap: Data call capability for sending files and retrieving internet data.
This will be a very challenging feature.
Please let us know if you are interested.
