1992 was the year I went to see a friend during spring break. I had U.S. currency and soon found that inflation reduced a 50,000 Pesos banknotes was then 50 Pesos as they renamed it Nuevo Dinero or ND50 Pesos. Many of the lower denominations went from being paper became small coins not worth bending over the pick up, sort of like our Penny? I dressed in old clothing and shoes and got work boots for US$16.00 and same for s nice outfit and gave my old shoes to a kid who was barefooted. The people were very friendly despite being poor.
