The 20th Century Time Machine featured 10 demo stations including The Life of a Book, pieces from our Artist in Residency Program, the Television Archive, the Wayback Machine, Film Digitization, Experiments from the Archive Labs program, software games and VR, and tunes from the Great 78s project. We featured a DeLorean Time Machine, art installations from the La Victrola art group, and performances from DJ Chas Gaudi and DJ Phast Phreddie the Boogaloo Omnibus.
Programming consisted of video from artist Laura Hyunjhee Kim, a welcome address from Internet Archive's Jason Scott and Tracey Jaquith, a deep-dive into our 78s project by Director of Collections Alexis Rossi, the Internet Archive Hero Award presented to Boston Public Library, exciting news about our Books Collections presented by Internet Archive Founder Brewster Kahle, recently discovered and digitized footage of the closing of the Jerome, Arkansas Japanese Internment Camp, presented by Director of Partnerships Wendy Hanamura, film archivist Rick Prelinger with firsthand testimony by Sab Masada, a Hypercard revival and finally, a glance into the history of the Web from the Wayback Machine's own Mark Graham and Vinay Goel. Come fall down the rabbit hole with us!
