During the Second World War and into the early 1950s, the Presidential Unit Citation was a patch worn on the lower right sleeve 4-inches above the cuff. It was later replaced by a blue ribbons enased in a gold frame and worn over the right breast pocket. Airmen wore a light-grey embroidered wreath on air force blue for a short time, however they wore the framed ribbon on the left breast pocket.
