These pictures were taken a few weeks before Eric died. In the picture with me in the hat, you can better see the yellow of Eric\u2019s jaundice. It was caused by cancer that had metastasized throughout his body. He was a lifelong cigarette smoker. I regularly urged him to quit, but he always insisted he liked smoking. That he actually liked the taste. Holy shit. I loved Eric. He was such a fine person. We talked a few times during this visit. He told me how lucky he felt to have lived the life he lived and wouldn\u2019t have changed anything even if that were possible. Shit, we literally laughed about things in our past the last time we spoke.

From left to right, these are some of my friends and land partners - Jessica, Eric, Sunrise and me. Eric was my first wife\u2019s first husband. We remained close for decades, he and I.

Sunrise has retinitis pigmentosa, a genetically recessive condition, and was legally and functionally blind by this time. Sucks.
